2023 Vintage
Carlisle’s last complete vintage and also our most exceptional set of wines ever. Above average winter rains fully replenished soil moisture but an unusually cool spring led to delayed budbreak and a late bloom. Clement weather during flowering set the stage for an average to slightly above average crop. The weather warmed to seasonal norms in July and August but with no significant heat waves. Cool, foggy weather returned in September delaying the start of harvest until October 6th. Wines are imbued with freshness and vitality, a reflection of the cool growing season, but are also dark, rich, and concentrated. A true vin de garde vintage and a year unlike any other we’ve witnessed.
