A blend of the four finest old-vine vineyards in the Piner-Olivet area (the vines average nearly 104 years old!), this wine is an archetype for Russian River Valley Zinfandel – bright, effusive, and intensely fruited with refreshing acidity. Plenty of interplanted mixed black varieties, and even some whites, add to the complexity of this wine. Aged in all French oak, only 10% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Medium-dark to dark garnet. A sensual, captivating nose of macerated cherries, raspberry, and blood orange. A hint of sandalwood as well. Truly intoxicating. Full-bodied with juicy flavors of Morello cherry and raspberry. Bright acidity, a theme of this vintage, keeps the wine light on its feet. Enjoyable now but like some of our other Zinfandels from this vintage, this wine really seems to strut its stuff on day two. Hence, if you open one soon, give it a good decant with plenty of air. Otherwise, hold to 2027 and enjoy through 2038. (MRO - 07/16/25)
