With yields of two tons to the acre, Mancini was picked October 13th.  The fruit was fully destemmed, cold soaked for five days, and then inoculated with a variety of natural yeast strains.  After 22 days on the skins, the wine was gently pressed to all French oak, 21% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered after 15 months of aging.

Tasting Note:

Beautiful, almost electric, dark garnet in color, no doubt due to this wine’s healthy 3.37 pH.  Aromatically, a very cool, blue-fruited nose offering boysenberry, blueberry, and mulberry.  This is classic Piner-Olivet Zin!  The wine gently caresses the palate with more black and blue fruits and a hint of pepper that carry through the long, bright finish.  A stunning example and as fine of a Zinfandel as we have ever produced.  This should continue to evolve and develop for at least the next 15 years, perhaps even longer.  Enjoy now through 2040.
