Picked on October 12th, nearly a month after we picked our Bedrock Zinfandel, this is the finest Mourvèdre we’ve produced from these vines planted in 1888.  Twenty percent whole cluster.  A 10% bleed to concentrate the juice.  Twenty-one days on the skins.  Pressed to all French oak, 23% new, and blended with a smidgen of Bedrock Zinfandel to punch up the aromatics and provide a more seamless palate.  Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Sonoma Valley "Bedrock Vineyard" Mourvèdre

Tasting Note:

Medium-dark to dark ruby-garnet. Cherries, sweet earth, pipe tobacco and a dash of cinnamon combine for a delightful sniff. Medium-full bodied with impeccable balance and beautiful texture. Flavors of black cherry, earth, and tobacco (it brings to mind my dad’s Mixture No. 79) build through the long finish. While this wine can be enjoyed young, try to give it at least five years in the cellar and then enjoy any time up to 2035. (MRO - 07/10/20)
