On October 10th, we were delighted to receive 2.6 tons of this very special fruit, lovingly and expertly farmed by Justin Smith.  Fully destemmed, after a five-day cold soak to extract as much color and flavor as possible, we inoculated with a yeast known to create wines of great smoothness and mouthfeel.  Another 13 days later, the wine was gently pressed to all French oak, 28% new.  As always, bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note:

Opaque, black-light violet.  Deep, redolent aromas of blackberries and cassis with a hint of white lily and cedar.  On the palate, the wine enters with a silken texture, displaying great purity in its black and blue fruits.  Youthful but fine-grained tannins build in the long finish.  Based on previous vintages, this will age and develop for a long time.  Your patience will be greatly rewarded.  Enjoy 2028 to 2042.
