Despite the challenges of the 2010 growing season, the 122-year-old Mourvèdre vines at Bedrock Vineyard excelled, producing a wine that we feel eclipses the wonderful 2009.  Picked October 12th, 25% of the fruit was not destemmed to add structure and aromatics.  After 25 days on the skins, the wine was pressed to all French oak, 21% new.  Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Sonoma Valley "Bedrock Vineyard" Mourvèdre

Tasting Note:

Medium-dark to dark ruby.  James Brown, funk-a-licious aromas of blueberry, plums, violets, tree bark, and orange rind.  This is Mourvèdre baby!  Texturally, quite creamy, with tannins building from the mid-palate to the persistent finish.  A darker, more masculine wine than Two Acres, our other Mourvèdre-based wine.  Can this wine be enjoyed now?  Absolutely, especially with a good decant!  But being Mourvèdre, a variety high in antioxidants, we are confident that this wine will develop for at least 15 years, perhaps even longer.  Enjoy 2016 through 2028.
