When Gallo announced they would no longer sell Semillon from Monte Rosso Vineyard, we were heartbroken.  But truthfully, we suspected this was coming.  Hence, back in 2014, to ensure production of the Derivative would not be interrupted, we lined up a killer new source of Semillon.  Rossi Ranch!  Just one drawback.  Rossi has less Semillon than Monte Rosso.  As a result, coupled with a very small crop in 2016, production of this wine has plummeted from just over 400 cases in 2015 to 150 cases in 2016.  We hope that future vintages will be closer to 200 cases.

Sonoma County "The Derivative" White Wine

Tasting Note:

Pale straw-yellow.  A captivating nose of quince, white grapefruit, lime, and quinine.  Medium-bodied, flavors of grapefruit and Crenshaw melon emerge in the long and invigorating finish.  Very refreshing!  Although this wine will pair beautifully with many dishes, I can’t help but think of enjoying this with some ripe Rocamadour cheese and fresh fruit on a warm summer’s day.  Enjoy from release through 2025.
