Under the meticulous care of vineyard manager Jim Munk, Palisades Vineyard knocked it out of the park in 2016.  What else is new, eh?  Block 12 was picked first on September 13th at 24.3 Brix.  Block 10 was picked 6 days later, also at 24.3 Brix.  As we’ve done in the past, the fruit was fully destemmed, cold-soaked for five days, and given significant extended maceration (a whopping 57 and 46 days respectively!) to soften the texture and lessen the perception of tannin.  Twenty-eight percent new French oak.  Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and unbelievably delicious.

Tasting Note:

Opaque black-purple.  Huckleberries and blueberries abound in the intense aromas.  Medium-full bodied with great energy, flavors of blackberry and blueberry linger through the long and gently tannic finish. Incredibly suave and polished but very concentrated as well.  This vineyard always produces a Petite Sirah of refinement and class but never has that been truer than in this vintage.  While enjoyable young, this wine will also age well.  Drink from release through 2035.
