Man, has this vineyard ever been on a roll! Just one killer Pet after the next. Head pruned and dry farmed, this vineyard is a throwback to the original Napa Valley, long before Cabernet Sauvignon dominated the landscape. And good news! In the past, we typically only had 110 cases or so of this wine and could only offer it to a small fraction of the mailing list. Not anymore! After the 2013 harvest, another winery that had been taking one of the best blocks decided not to renew their contract. When we were offered the block, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. As a result, it’s Pet aplenty! Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note:

Wowie zowie! Hands down the finest Petite Sirah we have ever produced. This wine is special. Black as night, the hi-toned aromas of blueberries, blackberries, and flowers explode from the glass. What a sniff! Full-bodied, flavors of blackberry and cassis completely saturate the palate. Plenty of tannin in the long finish but buffered by the copious fruit. Breathtaking! I enjoy Pets young for their power and fruit but this will also age well. Enjoy young with a decant or let it age until 2032. Who knows, it may even make it to 2042! (MRO – 01/19/16)
