2006 Santa Lucia Highlands "Rosella's Vineyard" Syrah

Whoo-hoo!!! We can’t tell you how excited we are to be sourcing Syrah from Rosella’s Vineyard! Under the meticulous care of Gary Franscioni, this vineyard has quickly established itself as one of the Grand Crus of California. Located on the eastern slopes of the Santa Lucia Mountains, separating the Pacific Ocean from Salinas Valley, daily ocean breezes (more like gales at times!) and plenty of fog ensure a long growing season. The result? Intense and delicious fruit! Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note:
Dark ruby-garnet. Fascinating aromas of buttered popcorn and ruby red grapefruit (the signature of Rosella’s Syrah) soar from the glass. On the palate, full bodied with a burst of grapefruit on the long finish. Of the three Syrahs released this spring, this is the most forward and approachable. Enjoy 2008 through 2013. (MRO – 3/1/08)
