Drum-roll please!!! Not perhaps since our first estate Zinfandel has a Carlisle wine been so eagerly anticipated. The James Berry Vineyard, impeccably farmed by the talented Justin Smith, has established itself as one of the great Syrah sites in California. Our particular block, the “Carlisle” block, is composed of two-thirds clone 470 and one-third clone 174. Aged in French oak, 33% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Paso Robles "James Berry Vineyard" Syrah

Tasting Note:

Opaque black-purple. Gorgeous, head-turning aromas of blackberry, cassis, and violet. On the palate, full-bodied but at the same time remarkably elegant. Flavors of blackberry, black raspberry, and Asian spice build through the long, mineral-laden finish. A seamless wine that clearly speaks of its exceptional terroir. Drink late-2009 through 2018.
