Oh what a difference a vintage makes! The ’03 was almost French-like in its earthy, gamey, smoky aromas and flavors. The ’04 is more what our customers have come to expect from our Dry Creek Syrah – big, deeply fruited, and totally decadent! Completely from Teldeschi Ranch, this wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered after 18 months in French oak, 50% new.
Tasting Note: Dark ruby-purple. Opaque. Ripe blackberries and black olives spill from the glass. A smooth, supple entry leads to flavors of plums, blackberries, and a touch of vanilla. Full-bodied and quite lush. Very enjoyable now, this wine should be at its optimum between 2007 and 2011. (MRO – 11/1/06)
